Innovation here in Teams Phone – we’ve listed some highlights of some of the most important things that have occurred in the past two years. During the pandemic we saw a lot of people move to Teams Phone as they were leaving their offices and leaving their PBX and voicemails because they were at the office. So a lot of things were added in 2020.
A lot more features were added also in 2021. The big one was operator connect, to do some of those third-party operator connect solutions. Apple CarPlay, I use it all the time now that I’m travelling again. I will frequently have my iPhone connected into the rental car and then use Apple CarPlay with Teams, my music apps, my GPS driving apps and I’ll have Teams in there as well. I’m a big fan of Apple CarPlay. Walkie-talkie is kind of cool too.
And for additional features, you can see the Microsoft 365 roadmap. I just did a search for phones in Microsoft Teams and it’s in the slide deck. You can see some of the top things in preview, call control, Bluetooth headsets, Teams device management, Exchange contacts available and calling. The GA shows general availability but please note, it can take a little bit of time to roll out to every Microsoft 365 tenant worldwide. It can take a few weeks or months to get things rolled out completely. Don’t hesitate to ask us any questions about that, we can help find out if it’s in your region.
